Refit of the Sailing Vessel TATOOSH - Spring 1999

- Rebuilt Cockpit & Teak Decking -

Over the winter much work was accomplished. Some interior work including new electrical panels - but more importantly the cockpit, and the installation of an LPG locker. Two Bomar Aluminum Hatches were installed. The forward hatch replaces the original and provides access to the rear of the engine. The aft hatch is to house the 2 six volt deep cycle batteries. These were installed later and there was just enough room.

Looks good doesn't it?

This shows the after deck and hatch. Deck here was stripped of paint and will eventually have light gray Teadmaster applied. The two vetilators were refinished and relocated from the cabin top. I wanted better ventilation anyway, but also wanted an exhaust blower for the bilge in case of a LPG leak.

After much soul searching I could not just allow the teak to go grey, so I tried TEAKGUARD and followed the instuctions explictly. We will see how this stuff actually holds up.

Looking rather pround of myself. My friend Tanya who took these pictures says it is just my laid back self .... Also shown is the control head for the newly installed Autohelm 4000.

TATOOSH looking ready -

Shown hear are the new bronze ports made by Spartan. Got a great deal at Marine Exchange. Later in spring and summer a new boom and rigid vang will be installed with new winches on the cabin top. Then an anchor windlass..... then new handrails ..... then some rigging..... then.....

Soon Nova Scotia!

There is more to come ....
