I spent a summer living and working on Sucia Island, just after High School. I was a "Park Aide" and didnt't really enjoy digging those pit toilet holes. Still, it was a great summer job and a bit of adventure - it was fun to be back. The old cabin over by Fossil Bay is still there but little more than office space and garage now. The pit toilets have been moved around and "modernized" and that is for the better. The little Christmas Island in Fossil Bay is not the same without old Captain Chris, his flowers and chipmonks, and the monsterous incinerator were I used to burn garbage has thankfully been removed. The San Juans are a remarkable group of islands with much history.
